The Death Cure (The Maze Runner #3)

Image
The Death Cure   (The Maze Runner #3) By   James Dashner My Rating: 5 Genre: YA, Fantasy, Sci Fi, Dystopian Finished on: 12th Sep, 2014 I AM SPEECHLESS. Okay, this review will take long as I didn't review TMR and TST too well as I was too impatient to read the next one. Since TDC is the end of the trilogy, here goes my review. When I first read TMR, all I did was cry at the end of every chapter. I just couldn't imagine living in the place Thomas did. In the beginning when he tries to recall  his parent's face, his siblings - if he had any - and his school. My heart numbed already. You see, I was imagining myself in Thomas's place. And that sucked. I didn't have any idea what the story was about in the beginning. Nobody even volunteered to answer poor Thomas's endless questions, and honestly, I was  screaming with frustration along with him too. When the story started getting clear, I could get a good picture of it, and asked myself. Why on earth would thes...

The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner #2)

Image
The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner #2) By   James Dashner My Rating: 4 Genre: YA, Sci Fi, Dystopian. Fantasy Finished on: 8th Sep, 2014 This book. All in all, too good. Now I started admiring James Dashner. Disappoint me with the story or not, he surely makes me smile with every sarcasm he filled in this book. And as TMR, this book too took me by surprise from the beginning. From the point Teresa got replaced by Aris, till the end. The concept was spectacular. Am honestly impressed. Every line of every page I read with my nails being bitten by my teeth, wondering what's gonna happen now? I silently hoped whatever happens, Newt and Minho should survive. I like them so much! Their bravery is worth a standing ovation, apart from Thomas's obviously. However, since Thomas was shot, I lost the count of the times he passed out. Once? Aww. Twice? Get well soon Tommy. Centuryth time? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU. JUST WAKE UP. Honestly, I felt like diving inside the pages and asking him...

An Abundance of Katherines

Image
An Abundance of Katherines By   John Green My Rating: 2 Genre: YA, Contemporary Finished on: 27th Aug, 2014 OKAY. I started AAOK as soon as I finished PT. And repeating the same line as PT's review. This is a one time read. Oh, wait. Maybe a two time read. And you know why? The only thing I enjoyed in this book, or rather found hilarious is the Theorem part. Almost the whole book, I gave a poker-face expression and asking myself why even am I reading this book?! Why? Why is he creating an unnecessary theorem which makes no sense? The graphs? No sense either. And how on earth did he get the idea to add differentials in the formula! He meets old people in the book, interviews them, and resumes his effort to make this invented formula work out. As any other John Green book - apart from TFIOS - I just enjoyed the last ten pages. The rest are just not worth reading. Or maybe I was too excited to finally get this book done, lol. So basically when the explanation of the title w...

And the Mountains Echoed

Image
And the Mountains Echoed By   Khaled Hosseini My Rating: 5 Genre: Historical Fiction Finished On: 25th Aug, 2014 And The Mountains Echoed. By the ever-heart-breaking-in-fact-heart-twisting-genius-author, Khaled Hosseini. Yes,  Khaled Hosseini. I was dying to read this book ever since it was released. I remember in the mall I randomly entered the bookstore and there it was, a pile of mountain containing the books 'And The Mountains Echoed'. Nobody can ever tell how impatient I was to steal that book, clutching tightly in my hands hiding in some corner and start reading it. But, unfortunately, I was out of money that time. However, this review is gonna take long so now after a year, I somehow started this book, finished it minutes ago, and here goes my review. From the start Khaled began the book with a short story about  div, jinns, etc  . I was fascinated from the start. Thought, "Oh, this seems interesting. Maybe Khaled realized that it doesn't do good to...

Paper Towns

Image
Paper Towns By  John Green My Rating: 2 Genre: YA, Contemporary Finished on: Aug 24th, 2014 The thing about John Green's books are, apart from his Awesome 'quotes' in between the pages of his book, I find nothing worth reading at all. Look at Paper Towns. Basically half the book was about 'Searching Margo'. First I was like, okay. Margo's gone. Q wants to search her as he thinks Margo wants him to search her. I never gave a thought the WHOLE book would be about searching her. Its not 'Looking For Alaska', its 'Looking for Margo', really. Apart from that? Q, I don't care about your IM'ing your friends. I don't care how much you like 'The Resurrection' game. I don't care who has whom for their dates for Prom. Give me a story Q, a story. Okay, my apologies. I read the book. There comes a quote, "Paper people living in Paper Houses, burning the future to stay warm." and another in the beginning, "She loved mys...

Sound Bender

Image
Sound Bender (Sound Bender #1) By   Lin Oliver ,   Theo Baker My Rating: 3 Genre: Fantasy, YA, Sci Fi Finished On: 20th Jul, 2014 This was good. Another one of those book where you just pass by your cousin's bookshelves pick it up and read it! :P Two things, from this book, were new for me to experience. Firstly  : Sound. Yeah, Sound. I've never bothered to think that deep about the sound. Its everywhere. Its even here when I'm typing these words. This guy, Leo, I thought was too boring at first who just loved nothing else in the world apart from sounds, and not the music ones, sounds which general things in life makes where people - like me - don't bother to take interest in. But, by the end of the book I realized it actually might be peaceful to live your life in those sounds. As if it is reaching a part of you. Reaching the part where your own body speaks out to you. So, anyway.. Secondly  : Dolphins. Yeah, dolphins. I remember in fifth grade my science...

Among the Barons (Shadow Children #4)

Image
Among the Barons (Shadow Children #4) By  Margaret Peterson Haddix My Rating: 3 Genre: YA, Sci Fi, Fantasy Finished On: 18th Jul, 2014 This book was one of those which I randomly picked from the bookshelves while visiting relative's house. Well, I don't regret though! But, yeah I regret one thing. This series, Shadow children, has seven books and I caught the fourth one. Unfortunately my cousin didn't have the first three and the last three! I kinda know about the story well, I think. But I need to catch up with the first three to exactly understand luke's feelings and how much he suffered in hiding and stuff, and about that Jason guy, and Jen too! This basic story actually touched me. Having more than two kids as illegal fine.. but killing them? That made me sick. The lame law made me sick too. Anyway I was attracted by the cover a lot. The kid looked so innocent and scared I actually thought it is some real fantasy and horror thing in it. Nevertheless, I will do try ...
