Fahrenheit 451

Image
Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury   My Rating: 3.5/5 Genre: Dystopi, Sci Fi Finished on: 27th Jan 2022 I started this book in the month of January '22, and writing this review on the last day of '22. I'm not sure how much I can recall at this point, or whether this review will do any justice to how I actually felt while reading.. But, here we go. So this was one of those MUST READ books I've been putting off for so long. I finally read it. The first time I ever heard of the title, I didn't really think the genre of this book was going to be a dystopian one. Fahrenheit 451 , what did it even mean? Temperature? Global warming? The meaning was explained soon enough. Coming to the book, there are three parts to it. The first one being... PART ONE: IT WAS A PLEASURE TO BURN:   This was the part where the plot was being introduced to us. Initially into the story, Guy Montag, the protagonist, meets the neighbour. Then he goes to the place he works? His team is firemen? He is...

The Time Machine

Image
The Time Machine by   H.G. Wells My Rating: 3/5 Genre: Sci Fi, Dystopia Finished on: 20th June, 2021 Funny thing about this book is, as I kept reading, I felt the story was way too familiar. Almost as if I anticipated what was coming already. How could that be? I have not read this book before. Did I dream all of it at some point? Am I a psychic? Only.. for me to find out (after Google search), that it has been adapted to a movie which I have already seen . Honestly, I felt so stupid. Although I have seen it years ago (which justifies why I did not immediately remember) but having not being able to recognize while I read is very.. stupid of me. Anyway, I remember enjoying the movie. Not in the sense that it was a great story, but it was definitely unique. Not a typical "Time Machine" story. So I knew what to expect from the book.  But did I enjoy reading it now..? Let me tell you that. ——————————————————- Initially it took me some time to understand what's going on...

1984

Image
1984 By  George Orwell My Rating: 4/5 Genre: Sci Fi, Dystopia Finsihed on: 13th Apr 2021 1984 By George Orwell The infamous dystopian book which I had not picked up so far. Until now.  Without having any idea what this book could be about, I pondered for few moments regarding the expectations I'll be having. 1984. It's an year, obviously, but what is the significance of this year? Is it a historical fiction? War based? What happened in 1984? It was until much later that I realised the genre of this book is actually Dystopia. And it was not the question of " What " happened in 1984.. But, " how " was 1984? ________ Part One: Winston Smith. He's 39.  The beginning of the story gives us an idea of how the life of the protagonist is like BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU Who is this big brother? No one knows. Yet. And then the infamous chants throughout the book WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH Yeah, sounds contradictory, I know. But these ...

The Kill Order (The Maze Runner #0.5)

Image
The Kill Order (The Maze Runner #0.5) By   James Dashner My Rating: 5 Genre: YA, Sci Fi, Dystopia, Fantasy Finished on: Feb 11th, 2015 James Dashner. This Book. I... have no words. I honestly don't. I still don't believe I actually got done with this book. I remember after finishing TDC I had vowed myself to never read James Dashner's read again. TMR was a nightmare I could never forget. It was hard to come out of the world Dashner had pulled me into. I was stuck, I couldn't get out. And maybe this was the reason I had chosen to read TKO. I don't know which crazy part of my mind had felt that this read might be the solution or the missing piece of the puzzle for me to get out of this nightmare. I was wrong, so wrong. It just made it worse, much worse. This book described the origin of it all. I couldn't help but recount TMR and the characters and the pain I felt along with them. This book was a cruel joke. In TMR Thomas kept hoping there would be a cure and I k...

The Death Cure (The Maze Runner #3)

Image
The Death Cure   (The Maze Runner #3) By   James Dashner My Rating: 5 Genre: YA, Fantasy, Sci Fi, Dystopian Finished on: 12th Sep, 2014 I AM SPEECHLESS. Okay, this review will take long as I didn't review TMR and TST too well as I was too impatient to read the next one. Since TDC is the end of the trilogy, here goes my review. When I first read TMR, all I did was cry at the end of every chapter. I just couldn't imagine living in the place Thomas did. In the beginning when he tries to recall  his parent's face, his siblings - if he had any - and his school. My heart numbed already. You see, I was imagining myself in Thomas's place. And that sucked. I didn't have any idea what the story was about in the beginning. Nobody even volunteered to answer poor Thomas's endless questions, and honestly, I was  screaming with frustration along with him too. When the story started getting clear, I could get a good picture of it, and asked myself. Why on earth would thes...
