Six Of Crows (The Six of Crows Trilogy #1)

Six Of Crows (The Six of Crows Trilogy #1) By Leigh Bardugo My Rating: 5 Genre: Fantasy, YA Fiction Finished on: July 24th, 2020 Picked up fantasy after a long time (actually not so long, but it felt like that) and it reminded me why this has been my favourite genre of all time.  Because the moment I open one, it automatically creates the fantasy world where I can reside in. :')  Initially I started making notes to write a review, there were just too many characters to remember. Only to know that half of the characters weren't part of the entire book apart from a page or two.  Consider the first chapter. There's Rutger and there's Joost, who has a crush on Anya. She's a Grisha, a healer. Their master or whatever, Hoede, is making use of some kinda powder to enhance her powers. It's called Jurda Parem . Tastes like Jurda, but is very different. And  works  differently too.  First chapter wasn't much clear, just that the powder seemed too dangerous to b...

The Taxidermist's Daughter

The Taxidermist's Daughter By Kate Mosse My Rating: 5 Genre: Historical Fiction, Mystery Finished on: July 19th, 2020 You know sometimes when it happens that you'd want to read a certain kind of book with a certain style of writing, but your heart and mind doesn't know exactly what?  You only realize it when you come across that book.  And for me, this was the one!  It caught my attention right from the very first page. An unusual tradition where people gather at a church, to see the ghost of people who might not survive the coming year.  I did not realize it until later, what did this all mean.  Prologue: April 24th, 1912. Wednesday.  People are gathered at the area near the church. Not much of what happens in this chapter is clear. We only can understand bits and pieces. To be honest, not much of what happens in the entire book is clear, but all the pieces fall into place in the end.  The main protagonist, Constantania (Connie) Gifford follows...

The Brightest Fell

The Brightest Fell By  Nupur Chowdhury My Rating: 4 Genre: Sci Fi, Politics Finished on: July 8th, 2020 Honestly, a good read.  I usually avoid reading political fiction, and read this one as the author personally asked me to. And I'm glad I did, I'm not disappointed with my decision :D This was an easy read. The plot was interesting as well. I thought the political drama won't make sense to me but the author's writing has made it very intriguing and easy to understand.  Let's come to the plot. The Amven drug seemed interesting in the snippet of the plot itself. A simple drug with a simple use but can have dangerous consequences when used in a wrong way. If used on innocent beings by wrong people.  Rajat Shian forcibly steps down and Jehan Fasih takes over as the new PM, all for the greater good.  Abhijat Shian has temper issues, and Rito Shian is a charming bubble. For some reason I thought the villain is Jehan Fasih here, but his great sense of humor...
