Something happened in 1897, something dark, something horrifying which tore a family apart? Very intriguing. What could it have been? The description of the events got me interested. The first few chapters were very gripping. But then later I felt the rest of the story could have been shortened to a few chapters. Instead they were dragged a lot. And though the plot was disappointing, I wouldn't say much on it because some stories just have to be. Though I felt awful that poor Harriet was left out in the whole story.
