This book, I honestly don't have any words to describe, any adjectives to compare.. Just.. Just.. I am speechless!
I open facebook, once in a while, and when I get too bored I check on pages which might interest me.
I noticed one thing that almost all of the admins of many pages loved this book, 'The Fault In Our Stars' I mean.
I was interested in the title itself when I came to know about it. I saw many wonderful quotes from the author, 'John Green' and I decided, I MUST read the book , And.. I did.
I found a link of its ebook online and started reading on my phone.
Its protagonist, Hazel Grace Lancaster was suffering from a lung cancer. She carries an oxygen tank cart all the time with a cannula attached to her nose, which helps her breath.
Instantly I felt defeated because I knew this stoory was something I couldn't read with strength, as she always mentions that she'll die soon enough.
She goes to this Support Group where poeple who have survived cancer share their inspirational stories and encourage those who are still fighting it. There is one guy, Isaac, who like her gets bored of the stories because it doesn't matter whether they get inspired or not, in the end they just HAVE to die!
She meets Augustus Waters in the same support group, who is also a friend of Isaac, a verry attractive dude according to her. He was interested in her, and wanted to be her friend which they soon become. He takes her to his house the first day and they watch "V for Vendetta" movie.
Hazel shares her favourite book, 'An Imperial Affliction' to him. That reminded me soo much of my friends. Because that book made both of them become close. And I remember two of my friends who became close to be just because that particular book we both were deeply interested in :')
Never mind!
Augustus was a survivor of a cancer called Osteosarcoma. His leg, which was infected, was amputated. And in place of that was attached an artificial leg.
Soon their friend, Isaac loses his eyes and becomes blind because he was suffering from eye cancer, Poor guy :(
Getting back to 'An Imperial Affliction', the book which Hazel and Augustus liked taught me so many things.
Mostly it taught me how we die, in a middle o a sentence, in the middle of our life going on, in the middle of everything! How this life is just a 2 day journey and in the end we all just have to die.
We need to life our life the way we deserve :) Spend the last moments of our life worth living.
However, Hazel wants to meet Peter Van Houten desperately when he finally replies her email through his assistants' ID, which was suggested by Augustus.
Unfortunately, the doctors of Hazel says she can't go because she needs medical attention. Eventually they allow her. I really loved the fact that Augustus spends his wish from 'One Wish Foundation', the one and only wish he could have preserved for something else, but he didn't. Because being with Hazel was important to him than anything.
He proposes to her in their journey to Amsterdam and many thoughts ran in my mind. Like, she is dying. He knows she is dying. He knows they can't be together forever. YET he proposes her.
That part was very, very emotional.
They both eventually meet their favourite author. He turns out to be way different than what they expected.
He speaks to them rudely and doesn't even tell them about the answers for which they came for. I was surprised by that.
They both leave him, Hazel after a heated argument with the author ends up crying.
Next day was the BIGGEST AND MOST HORRIBLE SHOCK I encountered while reading this book.
Augustus says or rather CONFESSES that the tumour in his body is regrowing back. Osteosarcoma is coming back. His illness is coming back. Infact, his dying days are coming back.
My reaction was similar to to Hazel. They both don't say anything to each other after that, they just hug each other and start sobbing.
That explains everything. He knew he was dying too, and wanted to say his heart words before he depart from the world.
They come back to where they lived. And Augustus is all packed with extreme medical attention.
When I read the book, I was experiencing in the place of Hazel. And Augustus made her LIVE her life. She was all depressed with her life. But he made her smile through it. She was prepared for dying. But now he was dying before her.
I kept praying praying praying that Augustus somehow survives or at least he dies after Hazel does because I really can't bear Hazel's feelings when that won't happen.
He was getting sick, he even attended his pre-funeral where he called Hazel and Isaac and asked them to read out their Eulogies.
That part made me cry, or rather sobb and I prayed harder that he survives.
The next scenes just crushed my heart.
"Augustus Waters died 8 days after his prefuneral"
I couldn't read after that line. The number of books I read, characters died for sure. But, I have no idea why this one just crushed me. Maybe I felt like Hazel, no Augustus to look after her. No Augustus to make her smile or whatever.
This book was just different.
John Green even reveals about the rude behaviour of the author of 'An Imperial Affliction' Peter Van Houten's behaviour. The day she met him, she dressed as the character of the book, Anna.
Who was also a cancer patient and who dies eventually.
Peter reveals that the person who Inspired Anna was his 8 year old daughter who was ALSO a cancer patient who died. Hazel very much reminded her of his daughter and thus he screamed at her.
That made me cry too. How people who die in wars, accidents, natural calamity are remembered but not the people who slowly die with illness? Its anyway death after all? Maybe even I can't answer this question.
In the end Hazel comes to know about his secret writings Augustus was writing before he dies. She tries and searches for it everywhere but in vain. In the utmost end she comes to know that he sent his last writings to Peter so that he conveys it for Hazel. It was Hazel's eulogy from him.
He says how truly he loved her. And never regrets his decision. That he chose his decisions wisely and all.
Honestly I was so depressed that no matter how hard I try to understand the last page words. I just couldn't. But, I remember the last words of the book.
"I do, Augustus. I do".
I felt so lonely when I closed the link. Probably Hazel too dies shortly or later after that. At least she was gonna be with his Augustus soon :')
The line of Isaac made me cry like hell. It was "When in the future people invent robot eyes and asks me 'Sir, why won't you try it?' I will answer, 'Shoo away! I wouldn't want to see the world without my friend'"

This book, The Fault In Our Stars is not a book any one can ever forget easily that they have read.
Every person must have learned something by it, even I did, many. And few which I don't even know I learned.
And this is probably the largest review I ever wrote for any book. Yeaa ๐
This review is just a small part of infinity to me.
As Peter has quoted, 'Some Infinities are bigger than the other infinities' ๐๐
